ARTIST STATEMENT
The work begins with subtraction — removing everything that competes with the essential moment. I photograph the shared spaces of urban life, looking for the fraction of a second when something true is visible. The visual language is grounded in the film tradition, with grain and tonal response chosen image by image to serve the work. All prints are limited editions on Hahnemühle Baryta Satin paper using Canon Lucia PRO pigment inks.
ABOUT
My love affair with photography started with a hand-me-down Kodak Brownie as a young boy. That journey started, stopped, sputtered, and started again throughout my life. Today the camera is the reason — a conduit for preserving a moment in time, connected to the ever-changing human landscape surrounding me.
I am drawn to the tradition of Todd Webb, Vivian Maier, Henri Cartier-Bresson, and Elliott Erwitt. Prints available upon request.
